Kanon (2006)

Genre: Drama, Romance
Review: This anime is a remake of the 13 episode long Kanon anime (31.01.2002 till 28.03.2002), which is based on a very popular Japanese eroge (hentai anime game). Many fans complained the first Kanon anime lacked animation quality and did not adequately present the awesome story of the original eroge. A length of 24 episodes and new companies responsible for production and animation will hopefully be the key to create an appropriate and satisfying Kanon anime this time.
The story revolves around Yuuichi Aizawa, who returns to his hometown after seven years. He is allowed to stay at his cousin’s house, but the memories of his childhood he spend here are blurry. Some of the girls there also don’t remember certain things of their past. What has happened in their childhoods? Why did they forget? And will they be able to regain the mysterious happy and sad memories of their past together?

Negima!?

Genre: Comedy, Ecchi, Magic, School, Shounen
Review: This anime is a remake of Mahou Sensei Negima (06.01.2005 till 30.06.2005) and is based on a popular manga by Ken Akamatsu, who also is the author of the cult anime and manga Love Hina. Fans complained the first Mahou Sensei Negima anime is an unsatisfying adaptation of the great manga and the animation and presentation seem to be rather childish.
The new Negima anime seems to be better and also more original because there are some minor changes to the original manga plot.
Negi Springfield is a talented 10 years old wizard-in-training. Oddly his final task to become a magister magi is to become an English teacher at an all-girls boarding school. This is the story of the young magician Negi and all of his female students. Negi is working hard being a good teacher for the girls, keeping his identity a secret, learning new magic and battle magic skills, becoming stronger and finding his lost father Nagi who is the strong and famous wizard referred to as the Thousandmaster, but disappeared after Negi’s birth.

Gift Eternal Rainbow

Genre: School, Romance, Harem, Drama
Review: This anime is based on an eroge and the characters, story and town strongly reassemble those of the anime Da Capo, while as for now I think Da Capo is superior in quality.

There a is big rainbow that does not disappear and everyone living in this town can once in his life give a special magical gift to another person if their feelings for each other are mutual. Bartender

Genre: Slice of Life, Bartender
Review: This is one of the more unique anime this season. It is about a very skilful bartender who solves his costumer’s problems by tasty cocktails and a little bit of conversation. Later on the ingredients of those cocktails are shown. I respect the originality of this show, but its originality does not make it any better. Most probably only those who have a strong interest in mixing and drinking cocktails will find an interest in this show.
Rating: 3/10

Love dol: Lovely Idol

Genre: Music, Bishoujo
Review: There already have been 2 bands of idol singers called Love-dols and a third generation is about to make their debut. However they might still lack an additional singer. The Love-dols’ manager sees his chance when he hears the beautiful voice of a street musician. But as she hates singing and only sings for revenge, recruiting her might turn out as a more difficult task than expected.
This show is mainly about singing, performing and pretty idols. It might be nice for people looking for nice voices and songs sung and performed by pretty animated girls wearing costumes, but those who are looking for great and deep stories might be disappointed.
Rating: 4/10

Kujibiki Unbalance

Genre: School, Comedy, Romance
Review: This anime originally was just an anime show within the otaku anime show Genshiken (10.10.2004 till 26.12.2004).
Chihiro and Tokino are childhood friends and today it is their first day in Rikkyoin High School. This High School has a special tradition of deciding matters with lots. In fact Chihiro and Tokino are chosen to become the first year student’s student council president and vice-president by the lot. This is how the funny and entertaining adventures of the new student council start. They have to solve all kinds of problems for the second year’s student council, which always border into chaotic situations and mass destructions. They all have quite funny but absolutely different personalities and specialities, but with joined forces they will master every situation.

Busou Renkin

Genre: Shounen, Action, Fantasy
Review: Mutou Kazuki is a normal high school student but his life changed when one night his heart got stabbed in an attempt to save the mysterious girl called Tokiko from some weird monster. Tokiko saved his life by replacing his heart with a special alchemist item. As he meets her again he learns that she is an alchemist warrior who fights those monsters called homunculus. Kazuki is still inexperienced with Arms of Alchemy (Jap: Busou Renkin), but he is determined to help Tokiko in her battles.
It’s a pretty typical shounen anime based on a manga by Watsuki Nobuhiro.

Perfect Girl Evolution (Yamato Nadeshiko Shich Henge)

Genre: Shoujo, Romance, Comedy
Review: It was a traumatic experience for Nakahara Sunako when the boy, whom she confessed her love to in middle school, replied he does not want to go out with ugly girls. Ever since then she lived a gloomy, dark and weird life not caring about her outer appearance anymore. She started hiding in the shadows and stopped interacting with other people. Her appearance became so dark that it was scary and frightening to others. However, her extraordinary aunt offered the 4 most beautiful and popular boys in school, who are living on rent in one of her big houses, to rent this house for free when they manage to make a lady out of Sunako. What will come out of those 5 living together?
Yamato Nadeshiko Shich Henge is a pretty funny shoujo anime and Sunako’s nosebleeds reflect the spirit of this fan-girl oriented show. Yet, those 4 boys who are supposed to be beautiful seem rather ugly and girlish to me due to their weird character design, but maybe that’s just me.
