Fansub Download Guide
There are free English anime fansubs and manga scanlations available on the internet, translated from their original Japanese form by fan-groups and distributed for download for free by fan-groups. It is mostly accepted to download fansubs and scanlations of anime and manga that are not licensed, translated and distributed by official commercial distribution companies of the same country/language and therefore do not compete with any DVD or TV release. It is argued that fansubs and scanlations are free advertisement and promotion for the series they are made of and for anime in gerneral. Still even if without fansubs many anime shows wouldn’t meet the eye of international viewership anyways, anime and manga is of course copyrighted material and Japanese companies have every right to go against websites who distribute their anime for free, which however is rarely done in case of unlicensed shows. However, fan-groups releasing licensed anime and manga have no right to do so and do this on their own risk. I do not wish to encourage anyone downloading licensed anime and manga. Please also support the anime industry by buying anime DVDs that are available in your country’s language.
